Meet Nathan Scott-Devonport – The Street Food Specialist

Hi, I’m Nathan Scott-Devonport, a self-taught chef with an NVQ in Professional Cookery from Bispham College and more than fourteen years’ experience working across the food industry. For the last decade, I’ve lived and breathed street food — the energy, the creativity, the graft, and the constant evolution that comes with feeding people unforgettable food from the kerbside.

I’ve cooked in all sorts of environments, from traditional restaurants to high-pressure pop-ups, taking on every role, every station, and every challenge that’s come my way. I’ve owned two food businesses and now run THE Hot Mess on Newton Drive in Blackpool, where bold flavours, high standards, and organised chaos meet every single day.

What I bring to the table

It isn’t just skill — it’s lived experience. I know the industry inside out: the long shifts, the margins, the creative blocks, the customer rushes, the wins, and the absolute meltdowns. I’ve learnt how to keep standards tight, how to stay sane, how to build a brand that people actually care about, and how to run a kitchen without burning yourself out.

Now, I’m using that knowledge to help other chefs and food operators. Whether it’s menu development, costings, workflows, food identity, or simply learning how to look after yourself while working in one of the toughest industries going — I’ve got the tips, tricks, and real-world know-how to help you level up.

I’m not here to teach from a textbook.
I’m here to teach from experience.
